Mega Steel Plant to Transform Keonjhar District
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced land acquisition for a new mega steel plant in Keonjhar, a joint venture between JSW Group and POSCO. The project aims to boost the local economy and create jobs, with significant funds already secured.
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi confirmed on Sunday that land acquisition for a proposed mega steel plant in Keonjhar district is set to commence following the deposit of required funds by the involved company.
The project, a collaboration between JSW Group and South Korea's POSCO, will feature an initial capacity of 5 million tonnes per annum and demand an investment exceeding Rs 40,000 crore. Two potential sites, Taramakant and Patna, have been identified for development.
The establishment of this plant aims to revitalize Keonjhar's economy by providing new job prospects. Meanwhile, Majhi is spearheading additional developmental projects, including highway expansion and flagged off a 'Maa Tarini's coconut collection vehicle', emphasizing his commitment to the district's growth.
