In a terrifying turn of events, a 26-year-old man's left leg was severed during a mobile phone theft on a moving train. The suspect, a minor, has been detained for allegedly hitting the victim and causing the accident.

The shocking incident occurred around 7 AM Sunday on the Tapovan Express, between Shahad and Ambivali stations, as victim Gaurch Ramdas Nikam, a farmer from Nashik, traveled towards his destination.

Authorities have launched a probe to ascertain if the accused minor, who further assaulted Nikam with a stick before escaping, is part of the notorious 'phatka' gang, known for similar crimes across the Mumbai suburban network.
