India remains firm on its stance regarding Taiwan, emphasizing continued focus on economic, technology, and cultural links, despite recent assertions by China misquoting India's position. Sources within the Indian government reiterated the nation’s consistent strategy in maintaining and developing mutual ties with Taiwan.

The misquote emerged after Chinese foreign ministry officials mistakenly cited External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar’s discussions with Chinese counterpart Wang Yi, alleging that he endorsed Taiwan as part of China. Clarifications have since been issued to rectify this misinformation.

Despite lacking formal diplomatic relations, economic and technology partnerships between India and Taiwan are thriving, notably in the semiconductor sector. Both nations signed a migration and mobility agreement last year, promoting employment opportunities for Indians in Taiwan and signify further cooperation in high-tech fields.
