Northern Railway is taking significant steps to enhance passenger safety by establishing Emergency Medical Rooms (EMRs) at key stations, including Ayodhya Cantt and Ayodhya Dham. These medical facilities are staffed with certified medical practitioners and trained paramedical personnel, providing services like complimentary first aid to injured passengers.

According to Himanshu Upadhyay, the Chief Public Relations Officer of Northern Railway, these EMRs will offer 24/7 emergency assistance. He emphasized the initiative reflects the Railway's ongoing commitment to passenger safety and medical care.

The Lucknow division spearheaded this initiative, launching EMRs at Varanasi and Lucknow-Charbagh Stations. The Varanasi EMR, operational since December 13, 2024, has proved successful. The EMR at Lucknow-Charbagh has assisted 41 railway beneficiaries and 18 other patients, showcasing its effectiveness. EMRs feature small pharmacies, labs, and private consultancy within railway premises, with patient transfer arrangements to nearby hospitals.
