Decline in Rural Inflation: Labour Ministry Reports July 2025 Trend
The Labour Ministry reports that retail inflation for farm and rural workers eased to 0.77% and 1.01% in July from June's figures. The Consumer Price Index for Agricultural and Rural Labourers showed mild increases. The Food Index also rose slightly in July 2025, according to data across 34 States/UTs.

The Labour Ministry has announced a decrease in retail inflation rates for farm and rural workers, recording 0.77% and 1.01%, respectively, in July 2025. These figures show a relief compared to the previous month’s figures of 1.42% and 1.73%.
The All-India Consumer Price Index for Agricultural Labourers rose by 1.23 points to 135.31, while the index for Rural Labourers saw an increase of 1.30 points to 135.66. The Food Index also experienced growth, with agricultural labourers seeing a rise of 1.94 points and rural labourers seeing a rise of 2.16 points.
The Labour Bureau's comprehensive data collected from 787 sample villages across 34 States/UTs offers insight into these trends. Year-on-year, the inflation rate for both labourer categories remained manageable, with the food inflation specifically contracting in July 2025.
