The accident occurred around 3 a.m. Friday morning, when a steel cable snapped during a tensioning operation, causing a substantial section of the bridge's curved aquamarine arch to fall. The damage has left parts of the bridge deck hanging precariously over the Yellow River.

Rescue operations are underway utilizing boats, a helicopter, and robots to locate the missing individuals. The bridge, spanning 1.6 kilometers with a deck 55 meters high above the river, remains a site of significant concern.
