Puducherry welcomed a series of new GST reforms on Monday, aiming to boost the local economy while easing financial strains on families, farmers, and businesses. Announced by Assistant Commissioner of Commerce Tax S Rewathi, the reforms promise significant reductions in tax burdens for the middle class, MSMEs, and small traders.
With revised GST rates now effective, businesses are urged to update their billing systems and pass cost reductions onto consumers. This move is expected to lower prices, especially for essentials, amidst growing consumer anticipation ahead of the festive season.
The AINRC-led NDA government, under Chief Minister N Rangasamy, anticipates the reforms will invigorate consumption, spur employment, and secure sustainable revenue growth. Puducherry officials have highlighted the potential for increased vehicle sales as the region embraces these tax changes.
