The South Central Railway took swift action to alleviate the overcrowding at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport by deploying four special trains. This initiative responded to the massive cancellation of IndiGo flights that left numerous passengers stranded at the airport.
A press release from the SCR confirmed that trains to Chennai, Mumbai, and Shalimar were engaged to handle the unexpected increase in passengers. The situation intensified as 43 outbound and 26 inbound IndiGo flights faced cancellation.
The frustration among passengers escalated, with many taking to social media platforms to express their grievances. In response, IndiGo's CEO Pieter Elbers apologized for the disruptions, which had affected over 1,000 flights on Friday alone.
