The Civil Aviation Ministry confirmed on Saturday that normalcy has been restored at airports nationwide, with all necessary facilities provided to passengers following widespread disruptions. These were primarily caused by significant cancellations by IndiGo, which axed hundreds of flights including 1,600 on Friday and 800 on Saturday due to crew shortages.
Despite the cancellation of thousands of flights, IndiGo, which operates over 2,300 daily flights, has seen efforts to stabilize operations. Measures have been implemented at multiple airports, particularly significant efforts by the Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL) to fortify passenger support at the terminals, aiding those left stranded amid operational chaos.
MIAL has taken initiatives such as stationing additional personnel to assist passengers and enhance comfort, providing refreshments, and actively managing resources and logistics. Special measures have been introduced to expedite passenger movement and maintain operational harmony, including setting up special gates for quicker passenger exits and ensuring sufficient supply maintenance by airport outlets.
