Indian Automotive Sales Surge in Post-Festive Boom

Passenger vehicle dispatches in India experienced a 19% increase year-on-year in November, driven by robust demand following the festive period, according to a statement by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) released on Friday.
In a breakdown of sales, total passenger vehicle sales reached 412,405 units, an 18.7% uplift from 347,522 units during the same month last year. Leading manufacturers contributed significantly, with Maruti Suzuki India dispatching 170,971 units, noting a 21% growth. Similarly, Mahindra & Mahindra and Hyundai Motor India's dispatches rose to 56,336 and 50,340 units, respectively.
The two-wheeler segment saw a substantial 21% increase in dispatches, totaling 1,944,475 units. Scooter sales surged 29%, while motorcycle dispatches grew by 17.5%. Despite the positive trend, moped sales declined slightly by 2%. In the three-wheeler category, dispatches grew 21% to 71,999 units, marking a record high for November sales in 2025. Riding on government policy support, the automotive sector anticipates continued growth into 2026, according to SIAM Director General Rajesh Menon.
