Railway Infrastructure Under Scrutiny: Safety Concerns and Connectivity Demand

Rajya Sabha members have raised alarms over the safety and connectivity of railway infrastructure. This includes a hazardous overbridge in Madhya Pradesh, and calls for extended train services in Goa and improved connectivity in Odisha and Uttar Pradesh, highlighting the need for structural reforms and modern facilities.

In a heated session of the Rajya Sabha, members expressed grave concerns regarding the state of the country's railway infrastructure, focusing on both safety issues and connectivity demands.

BJP MP Maya Naroliya pointed out severe structural defects in a railway overbridge on the Narmadapuram-Itarsi section of NH 46 in Madhya Pradesh, requesting an urgent investigation. She criticized the poor quality of materials used, calling for legal action against responsible parties.

Simultaneously, other MPs pressed for improvements in railway services, such as extending the Vande Bharat Express in Goa and bolstering connectivity in Odisha. They emphasized that these enhancements were crucial for residents and industries alike.
