Revitalizing Ladakh: Cooperative Movement Gains Momentum

Union Cooperation Minister Amit Shah noted significant progress in Ladakh's cooperative movement on Tuesday, with the Centre approving computerisation for 10 Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS).
According to Shah's written response to the Rajya Sabha, Ladakh, with a total population of 2,74,289 from the 2011 Census, has 169 PACS, 129 of which are functional.
Emphasizing the adoption of Model Bye-Laws, Shah said Ladakh's PACS can engage in over 25 diversified business activities, promoting transparency and accountability. Phase-1 has seen the approval for 10 PACS computerisation, with plans for an additional 23 in Phase 2.
