An Air India Express flight en route from Jeddah to Kozhikode successfully conducted an emergency landing at Cochin International Airport on Thursday morning due to technical issues with its landing gear and tyres.
The flight, identified as IX 398, was forced to divert to Kochi after encountering these problems. Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) confirmed that emergency protocols were activated, ensuring the safety of the 160 passengers on board.
Despite the malfunction involving the right main landing gear, the aircraft landed safely at 9:07 am. No injuries were reported, and subsequent inspections revealed two burst tyres. The runway was swiftly cleared and reopened for regular operations.
