India's startup ecosystem is witnessing a pivotal transformation, shifting from merely scaling up to focusing on creating globally recognized, IP-led companies. This was the message delivered by Prashanth Prakash of Accel India, as the nation celebrated a decade of its 'Startup India' initiative on Friday.
The current startup phase, according to Prakash, extends beyond software to sectors like electric mobility and aerospace. It's a process emphasizing capability building over decades, with each wave of startups tackling different national challenges. The initial phase addressed large, specific problems, while the second wave saw Indian software products meeting global standards.
The emerging dynamics involve translational innovation, domain-immersed entrepreneurship, and the convergence of global IP with Indian manufacturing. Supported by over USD 115 billion in investments, maturing ecosystem, and government policy execution, India's startup future promises enduring, IP-driven global companies.
