Blaze Erupts on Empty Passenger Train at Katwa Station

A fire broke out on an empty passenger train at Katwa railway station in West Bengal's Purba Bardhaman district early Sunday morning, according to an Eastern Railway official.

The incident occurred at around 4:30 am in a compartment of the Katwa-Azimganj passenger train parked at platform number two. Though no injuries were reported, the blaze caused a brief commotion among passengers at the station.

Firefighters managed to control the flames in about 30 minutes, while railway staff acted quickly to detach the affected coach to prevent the fire from spreading. An investigation is in progress to uncover the cause of the fire.
