Amazon India has strategically enhanced its air cargo offerings by introducing a new route between Guwahati and Kolkata as part of its Amazon Air service. Initially launched in 2023 to connect major cities like Hyderabad, Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, this expansion is set to expedite shipments fivefold across Northeast India.

The inaugural flight to Guwahati departed from New Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport, with the ceremony presided over by Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu. This addition aims to bridge sellers in the region with nationwide customers, improving fulfillment speeds and integrating local enterprises into India's growing digital economy.

Ravi Kota, Chief Secretary of Assam, has highlighted that such logistical advancements are poised to significantly boost employment opportunities for the local youth, thereby fostering economic development throughout the Northeast. Besides its proprietary fleet, Amazon India also partners with other Indian airlines to enhance cargo capacity.
