Hospitality Sector Seeks Relief Amid LPG Crisis

The Hotel and Restaurant Association (Western India) has requested the Maharashtra government to extend the annual license fee deadline due to a commercial LPG shortage. The shortage has caused many establishments to shut down, highlighting the critical need for a staggered payment option to sustain operations.

Amid a severe commercial LPG shortage, the Hotel and Restaurant Association (Western India) - HRAWI has appealed to the Maharashtra government for an extension on the annual license fee payment. This request aims to prevent further shutdowns in the hospitality industry.

The association's plea, submitted to Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Ajit Pawar, requests a new deadline of April 30, or a staggered payment plan in quarterly installments throughout the year. Currently, 30 to 35 percent of hotels and restaurants are impacted due to halted LPG supplies.

Many establishments are operating under restricted conditions, optimizing fuel usage to keep running. HRAWI spokesperson Pradeep Shetty emphasizes that immediate government support could help manage the industry's cash flow crisis and sustain hospitality businesses.
