The Hotel and Restaurant Association (Western India) (HRAWI) has submitted a representation to the Maharashtra government, highlighting a pressing issue affecting the hospitality sector. The association seeks either a one-month extension of the annual licence fee payment deadline or a staggered payment system amid an acute commercial LPG shortage.
Due to the shortage, nearly 30 to 35 percent of hotels and restaurants in the region have shuttered operations. Those still operating are doing so under reduced hours and with limited menus to conserve fuel, according to HRAWI.
HRAWI's spokesperson, Pradeep Shetty, emphasized the urgency of the situation, noting that additional establishments face imminent closure if LPG supplies are not restored. The association believes government action could provide critical liquidity relief during this challenging period.
