Thousands of motorists in Andhra Pradesh descended on fuel retail outlets on Monday, driven by fears of a pending shortage. Despite official assurances that petrol and diesel supplies were steady, large lines formed at stations in areas such as Rajahmundry and Vijayawada.
Gopala Krishna, representing the fuel retailers association, reported that the crisis had swept the state, though he expected most stations to be restocked by April 28. Meanwhile, Polavaram district collector and Transport Minister M Ram Prasad Reddy urged calm, emphasizing that services should continue uninterrupted.
Authorities are working with urgency to sustain normal operations, advising against panic buying. Transport services have been urged to make immediate contingency plans, and collaborate with private operators to ensure passenger needs are met while avoiding any service disruptions.
