E-Rickshaw Fare Boost in Delhi: A New Dawn for Drivers
Delhi's electric vehicle federation has announced an increase in the minimum fare for e-rickshaws, set at Rs 20 starting May 1, amidst the Delhi government's lack of consent. The move aims to adjust for increased operational costs, with drivers expected to don uniforms for a professional appearance.

From Friday, e-rickshaw fares in Delhi will see an increase to a minimum of Rs 20, as per an announcement by the electric vehicle federation. However, this decision is not yet backed by the Delhi government, which has not provided any official approval.
Chairman Anuj Sharma stated the fare revision, the first since 2014, addresses rising costs of e-rickshaw operation. He emphasized the necessity of uniforms and fitness certification for drivers and vehicles, with the uniform likely to be sky blue or yellow.
In a shift towards promoting self-employment, the Delhi transport department retracted a 2022 policy allowing companies to register multiple e-rickshaws. The emphasis now is on reducing economic disparities and promoting individual ownership.
