A German national on a luxury cruise ship hit by a deadly hantavirus will be transported to a Duesseldorf hospital for testing, a spokesperson announced Wednesday. Despite not showing symptoms, the individual is linked to an infected passenger.

The patient will travel from a Dutch airport to Duesseldorf via a high-risk patient transport unit. Preliminary investigations and further virological lab tests are scheduled upon arrival, as stated by the hospital spokesperson.

The infected individual had contacted another German passenger who died on the ship. Oceanwide Expeditions also reported the transfer of three passengers to a specialized aircraft, with previous fatalities including a Dutch couple.
