Foxconn Cyberattack: North American Facilities Targeted, Data Breach Confirmed

Taiwanese manufacturing powerhouse Foxconn has confirmed a significant cyberattack on its North American facilities, resulting in data breaches and production disruptions. The Nitrogen ransomware group claimed responsibility, allegedly seizing 8 terabytes of data. Foxconn's cybersecurity team is working to restore normal operations while assessing the breach's full impact.

Taiwanese manufacturing leader Foxconn confirmed a major cyberattack affecting its North American plants, bringing production to a standstill. The incident, which saw operations disrupted across facilities, was publicly acknowledged by the company late Tuesday.

According to a Focus Taiwan report, the Nitrogen ransomware group has taken responsibility. The hackers allege they accessed the Foxconn network, extracting 8 terabytes of data, including over 11 million internal documents. This massive data heist is believed to contain sensitive information tied to prominent clients like Apple, Intel, Google, Nvidia, and Dell.

Foxconn's cybersecurity response team has initiated measures to ensure continuity in production and delivery, with operations reportedly stabilizing. The breach comes despite initial claims by Foxconn describing the event as a mere 'technical issue.' Meanwhile, plans for future developments in Wisconsin are in place, with significant investments aimed at boosting AI and data security infrastructure.
