India's Semiconductor Leap: Historic Projects Propel Rajasthan into Global Tech Arena
Union Ministers Ashwini Vaishnaw and Bhupender Yadav inaugurated industrial projects worth over Rs 400 crore, boosting India's electronics manufacture. The Sahasra Semiconductor facility in Rajasthan's Bhiwadi region highlights a strategic shift towards local manufacturing, reducing import reliance and joining the high-tech global supply chain.
Union Ministers Ashwini Vaishnaw and Bhupender Yadav took part in a significant virtual event on Friday, inaugurating industrial projects worth more than Rs 400 crore, including the establishment of the Sahasra Semiconductor facility. This marks a pivotal moment in Rajasthan's journey into the high-tech global supply chain of electronics manufacturing.
During the event, Minister Vaishnaw emphasized the geopolitical importance of the semiconductor sector. He expressed gratitude towards Prime Minister Modi's focused efforts to bolster India's presence in this vital industry through initiatives like the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) and the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes, which have successfully led to the development of 12 plants nationwide.
The global perception of India's manufacturing capabilities has shifted positively, Minister Vaishnaw noted. Technological advancements have positioned India as a hub for designing advanced 2nm and 3nm chips used in Artificial Intelligence. With 75 projects approved and a major investment influx, India is reducing reliance on imports while boosting exports, writing a new chapter in its manufacturing narrative.
