Kerala's Chief Minister-designate, V D Satheesan, is in active discussions with officials to mitigate the impact of rising fuel prices on the public. Meanwhile, former Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan criticizes the central government's decision to increase fuel prices, terming it a grave injustice and calling for immediate withdrawal.
Satheesan acknowledges the public concern over the hike, while Pinarayi highlights the additional financial burden placed on citizens already grappling with soaring living costs. Vijayan accuses the government of adding costs instead of providing relief, despite declining international crude prices not benefiting the public.
Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee Chief, Sunny Joseph, joins the criticism, labeling the increase a post-poll challenge to citizens. He announces statewide protests on May 16, accusing the central government of exploiting citizens with high fuel taxes rather than adopting subsidy measures during crude price surges.
