Satheesan's directive permits only a pilot and escort vehicle to accompany his official car, with instructions to avoid creating roadblocks for the public. The change reflects a shift away from the traditional VIP culture associated with political leaders.

His predecessor, Pinarayi Vijayan, and former CM Oommen Chandy had notably larger entourages, making Satheesan's choice a symbolic and practical measure for public engagement.
