Kerala's political leaders, including incoming Chief Minister V D Satheesan, are voicing strong concerns following the central government's decision to hike fuel prices by Rs 3 per litre. Satheesan is currently in talks with officials to evaluate the impact of the price increase on the general public.
Former Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has condemned the central government's move, describing it as a 'grave injustice' that unfairly targets everyday citizens already grappling with high living costs. He accused the government of shielding corporations instead of providing necessary relief to the public.
The Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee, led by Sunny Joseph, is organizing statewide protests, arguing that the price hike post-assembly polls is a direct challenge to the people. The Committee alleges the move increases transport costs and imposes a heavy financial burden on consumer states like Kerala.
