In a crucial financial relief move, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced a 2% hike in the dearness allowance (DA) for state government employees and pensioners, effective from January 1, 2026. This decision increases the DA from 58% to 60%, bringing welcomed financial support to numerous families.

The Chief Minister's Office declared that the retroactive implementation of the DA increase will parallelly apply to temporary increases for pensioners. Starting with the May payroll and pensions, approximately 8.5 lakh beneficiaries across the state will receive the enhanced benefit.

This allowance adjustment showcases the government's commitment to supporting its workforce amidst economic challenges, ensuring sustained financial stability for its employees and retirees.
