The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has named Gunveer Singh as its new Executive Director, effective immediately. Singh will take charge of the Department of Payment and Settlement Systems. Before his promotion, he significantly contributed as the chief general manager of the same department, overseeing the regulation and development of the nation's payment infrastructure.

Singh's extensive background, which includes serving as an international payment systems expert at the Central Bank of Oman, offers him a unique perspective on cross-border payment frameworks and regulatory practices. This experience is expected to aid the department as it continues to modernize India's payment systems, fortify settlement infrastructure, and enhance risk management capabilities.
