China and Pakistan have advanced their strategic partnership, focusing on the development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and transforming the Gwadar port into a regional connectivity center. This initiative was part of discussions during Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's visit to Beijing.
The joint statement by both nations indicated an openness to third-party participation in CPEC, a key element of China's Belt and Road Initiative. Agreements were made to enhance infrastructure, including the Khunjerab Pass and the Karakoram Highway, along with commitments to improve security for Chinese workers in Pakistan.
