India’s Economic Aspirations Amid Global Turmoil: A Focus on Innovation and Trade

India remains one of the fastest-growing major economies globally, even in the face of prevailing uncertainties, declared Jitin Prasada, Minister of State for Commerce and Industry. His remarks came during the inauguration of the Global Business Research Conference (GBRC) 2026 at the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), where industry leaders discussed global business challenges and opportunities.
Prasada credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership for India's strategic focus on enhancing trade, manufacturing, and technology sectors. He highlighted advancements in areas like artificial intelligence and semiconductors, underscoring India's evolving role in global economics.
Highlighting the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade's efforts, Prasada acknowledged its significant role in fostering research, leadership, and global market integration. Meanwhile, IIFT Vice-Chancellor Rakesh Mohan Joshi emphasized the importance of academic inquiry and policy research amid technological and geopolitical shifts reshaping global trade.
The conference theme, "Managing Business Amidst Worldwide Turbulence," underscored discussions on international strategies for business schools and the impact of AI on management education. The event concludes on June 5, awarding outstanding research contributions and offering strategies for international partnerships.
