DayOne Secures Major Renewable Energy Agreements with TNB to Fuel Malaysia's Digital Infrastructure
DayOne Data Centers Limited has signed renewable energy agreements with TNB Renewables Sdn. Bhd. and TNB Power Generation Sdn. Bhd. under Malaysia's CRESS framework, enabling DayOne's data centers to access solar and battery storage energy. The partnership aids Malaysia's aim for net-zero emissions by 2050.
DayOne Data Centers Limited, a leader in global digital infrastructure, has taken a significant step towards sustainability by securing landmark agreements with TNB Renewables Sdn. Bhd. and TNB Power Generation Sdn. Bhd. The agreements, formalized under Malaysia's Corporate Renewable Energy Supply Scheme (CRESS), involve approximately 1.5GWp of solar capacity and 2.2GWh of battery energy storage.
The signing ceremony was attended by high-profile figures, including Malaysian Prime Minister YAB Dato' Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim and DayOne CEO Jamie Khoo. These contracts position DayOne as an early adopter of full-scale renewable energy supply under CRESS, reinforcing Malaysia as a crucial digital hub supported by clean energy innovations.
As part of the agreements, DayOne will also receive renewable energy certificates (RECs), advancing its goal of achieving 100% renewable energy usage by 2030. This collaboration bolsters Malaysia's National Energy Transition Roadmap, while also showcasing the country's ambition to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
