Project opportunity in Liberia: World Bank seeks solutions in logistics, agricultural sectors

The World Bank is reportedly assisting the government of Liberia to prepare an urban development project for the capital city Monrovia and the surrounding region. The intention of international financial institution is to deliver off-network decentralised solutions for service delivery and creating jobs.

In regards to this, the World Bank has summoned for applications to innovative social enterprises in the logistics and agriculture sectors to help with an urban development project it is undertaking in Liberia. It has also joined hand with Intellecap to identify social enterprises with proven business models that are willing to expand in Liberia or to replicate an existing model from another country into Liberia, as reported by Disrupt Africa.

The above-mentioned source also claims that the World Bank is eager to financing and provide facilitation support for replication in Liberia. The financial institution is further eyeing to solutions that can develop last mile service delivery or create jobs for marginalised populations, including developing agribusiness opportunities.
