Turkey, Gambia’s bilateral trade volume to increase to $40m

Mevlut Cavusoglu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey has said on April 18 that the country seeks bilateral trade volume with the Gambia to be augmented to USD 40 million.

While acknowledging Turkey's particular attention and strategies to promote ties with the African countries, Gambia's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mamadou Tangara said that the Gambia will always stand by Turkey.

"Turkey and Gambia aim to build bridges in every field," the Turkish leader, Mevlut Cavusoglu said while addressing a joint news conference with Gambian counterpart Mamadou Tangara in capital Ankara. Cavusoglu also said that the government of Turkey also wants to open embassies in all African countries.

The world must take into account the huge contributions Africa can make to the global economy prompted by a 'reawakening' in the upcoming decades, Cavusoglu added. He also vowed to support development projects in the Gambia and give scholarships to students.

He also further extolled Gambia's effort in supporting Turkey in difficult times. "Gambia is the first country to ban FETO [Fetullah Terrorist Organization]," he added. According to him, Gambia is a beautiful country with plenty of potentials for Turkish investors to venture and explore businesses.
