Punjab Industries Minister Sunder Sham Arora on Tuesday asked industry representatives to take all precautionary measures at their units in order to complement the state government's efforts to prevent coronavirus spread. "All precautions related to hygiene must be taken at all industrial facilities for workers," said Arora while chairing a meeting of senior department officers and affiliated boards and corporations to assess the situation arising out of the coronavirus outbreak.

Arora also asked the industry to carry out regular checkups of their workforce at the nearest government dispensaries in case of any symptoms. Arora, in a statement here, further asked all industrial units in the state to put up prominent sign boards outside their factories listing out hygiene precautions to be taken to prevent the spread of coronavirus. He also asked to ensure availability of hand sanitisers to the workers at all strategic points.

He also asked them to make soap and water freely available for use by workers who enter factories, besides directing for making common facilities used by staff and workers be regularly sanitised. This includes buses/common transport vehicles used by workers. Assuring the industry of fulsome support and assistance, the minister said the state machinery was fully geared up to meet any challenge, adding that active participation both at personal and community level was key in the fight to defeat this deadly virus.
