In a significant development, the Bihar Police have detained six individuals from Jharkhand's Deoghar district in connection with alleged irregularities in the NEET medical entrance exam. According to officials, these individuals were taken into custody from a house near AIIMS-Deoghar on Friday night.

The arrests were made following a tip-off from the Bihar Police, confirmed SDPO (Deoghar Sadar) Ritvik Srivastava. The suspects, identified as Paramjit Singh alias Bittu, Chintu alias Baldev Kumar, Kaju alias Prashant Kumar, Ajit Kumar, Rajiv Kumar alias Karu—all residents of the Nalanda district of Bihar—and Panku Kumar, were reportedly staying at a house owned by one Jhunu Singh.

Conducted by the NTA, the NEET-UG exam saw participation from around 24 lakh candidates on May 5, with results announced on June 4. However, the aftermath has been marred by allegations of question paper leaks, particularly in Bihar. Amidst this controversy, the Jharkhand RJD has postponed its planned protest to a later date, aiming for a larger-scale demonstration.
