A 15-year-old boy from Arunachal Pradesh, Chirang Kri, has tragically taken his own life allegedly after being asked to leave his school for using a mobile phone within the campus, a senior officer stated on Tuesday.
The boy’s body was discovered hanging from a tree near the bank of the Lohit river, close to his school in Amliang, Anjaw district, on Monday, according to Superintendent of Police Rike Kamsi. The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, casting a spotlight on school policies and mental health issues among students.
The school principal, TM Sathian, described the incident as 'very unfortunate.' He stated that the issue with Chirang had been resolved, and the student was allowed to continue his education. However, the reasons behind Chirang's extreme action remain unclear. The boy’s family has lodged a complaint against the school principal and hostel warden, seeking a thorough investigation into the circumstances leading to his death.
