Empowering Youth Through Skill Development: Over 1.4 Crore Trained Under PMKVY

Over 1.4 crore youth have been trained under India's Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana. The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship is committed to connecting youth with skill development opportunities. The initiative aims to enhance employability, promote lifelong learning, and contribute to a self-reliant India.

More than 1.4 crore youth have received training under the government's flagship Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana, according to a top official on Monday.

Speaking at an event on World Youth Skills Day, Secretary in the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Atul Kumar Tiwari, emphasized the ministry's dedication to connecting youth with skill development. He highlighted that equipping the youth with skills and education is a vital step toward achieving a self-reliant India.

“Today, we have trained more than 1.40 crore youth under PMKVY,” Tiwari said. “We have also ensured that over 33 lakh candidates have been engaged as apprentices and upgraded multiple skilling institutions to offer high-quality training.”

Tiwari further noted that partnerships with other government departments and industry players have been instrumental in enhancing employability and expanding opportunities for employment in global markets.

Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana was initiated in 2015 to address the need for skilled professionals across industries. Speaking at the 'Kaushal Samwad' dialogue, Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Jayant Chaudhary, underlined the significance of youth skills in peacebuilding and sustainable development internationally.

“The Ministry is also working towards making lifelong learning essential for young talent, starting from school level, in line with the new National Education Policy,” Chaudhary added.
