In a swift response to escalating violence in Bangladesh, 379 students crossed into India through Tripura's integrated check posts over the last two days. This mass return encompasses 365 students who crossed on Saturday and four on Friday, according to a Border Security Force (BSF) official.

Most of the students are expected to return from Bangladesh's Brahmanbaria and Dhaka. The returning sites are Srimantapur in Sepahijala and Agartala (Akhaura) in West Tripura. Land Ports Authority of India (LPAI), Manager Debasish Nandi assured that facilities remain open on Sunday to accommodate the returning students.

Inspector General Patel Piyush Purushottam Das from the BSF, Tripura Frontier, stated that they are providing all possible assistance to the returnees. This comes amid violent student protests in Dhaka demanding reforms of the quota system for government jobs, which reserve up to 30% of positions for relatives of 1971 war veterans.
