NTA Postpones 16 Exams Since 2018: Reasons and Impact

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has postponed 16 exams since 2018 due to various reasons including the COVID-19 pandemic, administrative issues, and logistical challenges. Minister Sukanta Majumdar shared this information in Lok Sabha, highlighting the agency's efforts to manage examination schedules amidst unforeseen circumstances.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has postponed at least 16 exams since its inception in 2018, due to various reasons such as the COVID-19 pandemic, administrative issues, logistical challenges, and technical problems, according to the Ministry of Education. The information was disclosed by Minister of State for Education Sukanta Majumdar in response to a query from DMK MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi in Lok Sabha.

Majumdar noted that NTA has successfully conducted over 240 exams involving more than 54 million students, although some exams had to be rescheduled. Specific exams like JEE-Main and NEET-UG in 2020 and 2021 were delayed because of the pandemic, while others faced logistical and technical setbacks.

The minister revealed that NTA is now declaring examination calendars well in advance, incorporating buffer days to accommodate for possible rescheduling. This move aims to facilitate better planning and preparation for candidates.
