The Supreme Court on Tuesday instructed the National Testing Agency (NTA) to revise its NEET-UG merit list. The decision was based on a report from an IIT Delhi panel, which determined that only one answer to a controversial physics question is correct.
Initially, the NTA had considered two options as correct, awarding four marks to candidates who selected either. The latest Supreme Court order will result in a reevaluation, affecting over four lakh aspirants who chose the other option.
Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud dismissed pleas seeking cancellation or a re-test of the exam, rejecting the idea of systemic breaches. The court sided with IIT Delhi experts, who confirmed that the correct answer is option four.
