AAP Urges Law to Regulate Coaching Centres After Tragic Incident

AAP has called for a law to regulate coaching centres and the formation of a parliamentary committee to address parents' concerns. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday demanded that the central government enact legislation to regulate coaching centres across India. They also called for a parliamentary committee, including leaders from various parties, to engage with parents on this critical issue.

This request comes in the wake of a tragic incident in which three civil services aspirants lost their lives after floodwaters infiltrated the library of Rau's IAS Study Circle in Old Rajinder Nagar. The tragic event has spotlighted the dire need for stringent regulations in the coaching industry.

Addressing a press conference, AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said he wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging prompt legislative action. He revealed that the Delhi government would introduce its own law to regulate coaching centres in the city. Singh criticized a recent closed-door meeting held by Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena with coaching centre officials, questioning the exclusion of Delhi ministers from the discussion. Meanwhile, AAP's Gopal Rai called for police empathy towards protesters mourning the incident, emphasizing the national scope of the issue.
