Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy reported on Thursday that the territorial government is embracing an integrated strategy to promote and improve the quality of education for students.

At a ceremony honoring teachers selected for 'Best Teachers' awards on Teacher's Day, Rangasamy mentioned the government's efforts to upgrade teachers' skills by providing training aligned with the latest developments in the education sector through technology. He emphasized that the central government is implementing reforms to ensure quality education and produce skilled students, with Puducherry matching these reforms.

The Chief Minister detailed the introduction of technology-driven changes in the education system to create an optimum learning environment. Rangasamy also noted that graduates from Puducherry's professional colleges are securing high-income jobs both domestically and internationally.

In addition, Rangasamy outlined plans to boost employment through the promotion of industries, IT parks, and handicraft sales emporia. A 750-acre site in Sedarapet village has been allocated for industrial development, expected to provide job opportunities for educated youth. Sites of Puducherry's defunct textile mills will be converted into IT parks and retail spaces for handicrafts, supported by Rs 102 crore from the central government.

Teachers recognized as 'best teachers' and retired educators were honored, with Home and Education Minister A Namassivayam presenting mementos. Legislators and Directorate of Education officials also participated in the ceremony.
