Protests Erupt Over Alleged Malpractices in Jharkhand Exam

A large number of candidates protested near the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) office in Ranchi on Thursday, alleging 'malpractices' in the Jharkhand General Graduate Level Combined Competitive Examination (JGGLCCE).

In response, Ranchi district administration imposed a prohibitory order under section 163 of BNSS, effective until 10 pm on October 2, within a 100-metre radius of the commission's office. The order bans any gatherings or carrying of weapons without prior permission, as per an official statement.

JSSC chairman Prashant Kumar insisted in a Wednesday press conference that the exams were fair but stated that complaints with proof would be investigated. The agitating candidates alleged that they have evidence of malpractice including paper leaks, which they claim have been ignored.
