Artificial intelligence holds the potential to transform human life profoundly, much like the discovery of fire, but it also carries significant risks if mishandled, warns UNESCO's Assistant Director General for Education, Stefania Giannini.
In an exclusive interview with PTI from Paris, Giannini highlighted that each technological revolution, from personal computers to generative AI like ChatGPT, has had broad social and educational implications, radically altering the way we live and learn.
She stressed the need for governments to establish robust frameworks to regulate AI in schools, emphasizing that the technology, if not driven by the right investments, could widen the existing digital divide.
