In a shocking turn of events, five third-year nursing students from the Government Nursing College have been arrested following allegations of severe ragging by the institution's freshers. Police made the arrests on Wednesday after complaints surfaced from three first-year students.

The allegations, which paint a distressing picture of campus life, describe the ongoing abuse since November. The complainants reported being subjected to appalling physical acts, including being forced to stand naked and endure brutal harm inflicted with weightlifting dumbbells.

Moreover, the senior students allegedly demanded extortion money regularly to purchase alcohol and frequently assaulted the juniors. The situation became intolerable, prompting the victims to seek help from the Kottayam Gandhinagar police, who swiftly took action.
