Odisha Boosts Junior Teachers' Pay

The Odisha government has increased the monthly remuneration for junior teachers under the 'Samagra Sikshya' programme from Rs 11,000 to Rs 16,000. This hike, approved by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, also raises the EPF contribution. The revised salaries impact 13,740 teachers and add Rs 89.15 crore to the state budget.

The Odisha government has announced a significant increase in the monthly remuneration for junior teachers working under the 'Samagra Sikshya' programme. This move aims to bring about better financial support for educators in the state's elementary schools.

According to a resolution from the school and mass education department, junior teachers' monthly salaries have been increased from Rs 11,000 to Rs 16,000. The new pay scale will be effective from the date of the resolution's issuance, a decision that aligns with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi's proposal approval on January 17.

Apart from the pay hike, the government is also enhancing their EPF contributions from Rs 1,443 to Rs 1,950 monthly. Currently, 13,740 junior teachers benefit from this scheme, and the state is set to bear an additional annual expenditure of Rs 89.15 crore as a result of these changes.
