Disturbing visuals have emerged showing a junior student at Government Nursing College in Kottayam being subjected to brutal ragging by senior students. The footage reveals the victim tied to a cot, with his body pierced repeatedly by a compass, and subjected to other degrading acts.

Following the release of the visuals, police have arrested five students under the Prohibition of Ragging Act, amongst other charges. The Kottayam District Police Chief, Shahul Hameed, confirmed a detailed investigation is underway to determine the full extent of the ragging and whether lapses by the college authorities contributed to the incidents.

The incident has sparked outrage across student organizations, with calls for strict action against the perpetrators. College authorities have suspended the accused and pledged full cooperation with the investigation to ensure justice is served.
