Chandigarh University Launches 'Udaan' For Repatriated Youth

Chandigarh University has launched 'Udaan', a rehabilitation program to aid Indian youth repatriated from the US. The initiative offers free counselling, education, and employment opportunities, alongside entrepreneurial support. Targeting repatriated youth from Punjab and surrounding regions, the program aims to ease their reintegration and address financial distress.

Chandigarh University is making significant strides with the launch of 'Udaan', a comprehensive rehabilitation initiative aimed at assisting Indian youth repatriated from the US. Spearheaded by Member of Parliament and university chancellor, Satnam Singh Sandhu, the program provides support in the form of free counselling, skill development courses, and higher education opportunities, as well as facilitating employment in local industries.

During a recent press conference, Sandhu announced that a dedicated helpline and website have been established to streamline support for these individuals. The university is committed to easing the trauma faced by repatriated youth and addressing their financial hardships, often exacerbated by previous debts incurred while overseas.

Efforts are initially focused on Punjab, where the majority of those repatriated hail from, with plans to extend assistance throughout various Indian states. The program not only prepares youth for a stable future through skill assessment and training but also nurtures potential entrepreneurs with guidance and access to relevant government schemes.
