Delhi's MCD Empowers Students with Direct Bank Transfers for Education Essentials

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) facilitated the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) of Rs 109 crore to students for uniforms and stationery. Launched with IDBI Bank, the initiative seeks to enhance educational resources. MCD emphasizes infrastructure improvement, cleanliness, and enrolment growth in schools.

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has pioneered an educational initiative by transferring Rs 109 crore directly into the bank accounts of students for uniforms and stationery. This Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme aims to provide essential educational materials and was launched in collaboration with IDBI Bank.

Delhi Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh inaugurated the initiative, emphasizing the quality of MCD schools and the pivotal role of teachers in student success. The program also received contributions from IDBI Bank in the form of smart boards valued at Rs 1.5 crore, with requests for further support to bolster digital infrastructure.

Commissioner Ashwani Kumar highlighted the importance of education and praised teachers for their role in shaping students' futures. Additionally, efforts are being made to enhance enrolment and infrastructure, with the Rotary Club International promising to build toilet blocks in 25 schools and focus on cleanliness and greenery within school premises.
