The KIIT campus is once again shaken by tragedy as the body of first-year B Tech student Rahul Yadav was discovered hanging in his hostel room, marking the institution's third such death in less than a year.
Yadav, an 18-year-old Computer Science student from Raipur, was declared dead at KIMS Hospital after being taken there by police from the Infocity Police Station. The subsequent investigation, which includes seizing Yadav's mobile phone and laptop, remains ongoing.
This latest incident echoes previous cases involving two female Nepalese students found dead in similar circumstances earlier this year, sparking concerns among political leaders. BJP MLA Saroj Padhi has called for the chief minister to enact stringent measures to prevent further student deaths at KIIT.
